Elementary
Monday – Friday 8:20 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.
At the elementary level, Montessori students learn to think for themselves. They are encouraged to do their own research, analyze what they have found, and draw their own conclusions. The Montessori teacher’s role is to inspire and support each student by reinforcing their research initiatives and engagingly presenting new information. Montessori teaches students to think rather than memorize.
The Elementary curriculum includes Language Arts, Math, Science, Geography, Social Studies, and Character Development. Dr. Montessori recognized that students develop a sense of morality, closely connected to an intense interest in the social group during their Elementary years. Therefore, she designed the multi-age classrooms that provide daily opportunities for students to practice their kindness, patience, problem-solving, leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities while building a strong moral compass and sense of community. The Elementary Academic Enrichment classes also include Art, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish.
Spanish
Students in grades 1st-6th have Spanish Class every day. Our Spanish lessons focus on building vocabulary, learning Spanish grammar, building confidence in speaking Spanish with fluency, and learning about the different cultures and countries in Latin American.
Students in our Elementary program don’t sit at a desk all day long. They often collaborate, either helping one another master information or working together on group projects. Dr. Montessori believed children are born curious, creative, and intelligent. In designing the elementary program, she wanted to nurture their spontaneous curiosity and inspire a sense of wonder in their spirit.
